Wildland Fire Training will be held at Camp Edwards - Joint Base, Cape Cod, Massachusetts from June 26-30, 2023. Instructional and Logistic Support for this year’s trainings are being provided by the Massachusetts Army National Guard, Oregon Army National Guard, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife, and Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management.

Rx-410, Smoke Management Techniques Training
This course leads students through the ecological and historical role of fire, characteristics of smoke and the health, safety and visibility impacts of smoke. Other topics include public relations, legal requirements, meteorology, fuel consumption, smoke production dispersion modeling, and operational smoke management strategies. This course is designed to prepare students to function effectively as members of the Command and General Staff (C&G) on a Type 2 Incident Management Team (IMT). Students will participate in facilitated discussions, classroom exercises, and a simulated incident. Students will be evaluated by assigned coaches using an assessment and feedback rubric.
