About the NECC: NECC Overview
The NECC is located at the State of Maine Bolton Hill Regional Fire
Headquarters in Augusta, Maine. The center operates under a signed
cooperative agreement between the Northeastern Forest Fire Protection
Compact (NFFPC), the State of
Maine as the host, the U.S.
Forest Service, the U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bureau
of Indian Affairs, and the National
Park Service.
The coordination center is staffed by four dispatchers, two provided by the State of Maine, one by the White Mountain National Forest, and one by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the National Park Service support the center by providing annual operational funds.
In addition to serving the NFFPC area for local wildland fire mobilization needs, the NECC serves as a sub-regional coordination center to the Eastern Area Coordination Center (EACC) located in St. Paul, Minnesota, which has interagency mobilization and coordination responsibility for the states and federal agencies within the 20 northeastern states geographic area.
