Management: Commissioners
There are up to thirty (30) Commissioners representing ten (10) of the eleven (11) agencies associated with the
Northeastern Forest Fire Protection Commission (the eleventh agency, the New England National Forests, does not presently
provide Commissioners).
To form the Commission, each state is represented by three (3) commissioners; the state forester,
a state legislator and a governor's representative. Each Canadian province also designates three (3) commissioners.
The Commissioners meet once annually. Their function is to provide guidance and direction to the Compact Executive
Committee, review and approve annual compact budgets and keep their respective bureaucracies (Governors, Legislation, etc.)
informed about NFFPC business.
